MANILA, Philippines?Ma?am, Sir, Miss, Mister Professor or simply Teacher?no matter how you address them, our hardworking school mentors play an important role in molding the minds of students throughout their academic lives. Brilliant educators often become students? inspiration or motivation in fulfilling their dreams and serve as their guide to the future.

Diverse characters

In the movies, teachers are portrayed as colorfully diverse characters: Comic, nerdy, strict, boring, pretty, handsome, etc. More often than not, they?re depicted as individuals students initially dislike, but in the end, no matter how rough and difficult the road they travel on may be, they always leave a big impact in the lives of their wards and become role models worthy of their students? respect and emulation. Some of the silver screen?s most notable teachers and their insightful lines:

John Keating (Robin Williams, ?Dead Poet?s Society)??Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys?make your lives extraordinary.?

Glenn Holland (Richard Dreyfuss, ?Mr. Holland?s Opus?)??Playing music is supposed to be fun. It?s about heart, about feelings, moving people, and something beautiful?not about notes on a page. I can teach you notes on a page, but I can?t teach you that other stuff.?

Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank, ?Freedom Writers?)??To get respect, you have to give it!?

William Hundert (Kevin Kline, ?The Emperor?s Club?)??Great ambition and conquest without contribution is without significance. What will your contribution be? How will history remember you??

LouAnne Johnson (Michelle Pfeiffer, ?Dangerous Minds?)??Nobody?s forcing you to be here. You can stay, or you can leave. You have a choice. Either you don?t graduate or you have to put up with me. It may not be a choice you like, but it is a choice!?
