Dollywood
‘Mommy talk’ with Pia M

MANILA, Philippines?I?ve like Pia Magalona since the first time I met her. That was when husband FrancisM brought her along to my daughter?s baptism. Kiko was the ninong of my firstborn.

Pia and I had a ?mommy talk? recently. How is her relationship now with daughter Saab, who ran away from home a few months ago? ?Saab just went through a confused phase,? Pia says. ?We just let it run its course, as opposed to forcing through. We?re happy she?s back to the fold.?

Is Saab really Victor Basa?s new girl? ?They were never an item,? Pia clarifies. ?My daughter is somehow learning about herself more before she gets into another relationship, upon my advice.? For sure, Kiko is smiling from up above, seeing how Pia continues to raise their kids so well.

Quotable quotes

I immensely enjoyed interviewing Ricky Davao, Roderick Paulate and Cannes Film Fest Best Director Brillante Mendoza for my daily TV show with IC on Viva Cinema Channel, ?Chikalectric.? Here are some of their quotable quotes:

Ricky Davao: ?If you really want to be an actor, dapat mag-aral ka umarte at huwag kang maarte o mag-inarte.?

Brillante Mendoza: ?I want to be known as an ultra-realist. The message of my films is that the world is not always a safe place.?

Roderick Paulate: ?If I had the power to change anything in show biz, [I?d junk] crab mentality. Fellow actors should lift each other and not weigh one another down.?

Kudos to Ricky, Dick and Brillante. As long as they?re around, there?s hope for the TV and movie industries.

Simple, very pretty

Willie Revillame?s new girlfriend is a 19 year-old student named Nadine. She?s simple and very pretty.

I remember when Willie was still married to one of my close friends, Princess Punzalan, and when he was still a struggling drummer playing at the local jazz club, Birdland. He has come a long way, not just in his career, but in his love life as well. Will there be ?nada? girls for him, now that he has Nadine?

Guess list

?Stylists of a young actress almost walked out on her at the taping of her new show. ?Tinarayan niya kami,? laments one stylist. ?Sabi niya, bakit ganun daw ang pinapasuot namin sa kaniya. Di raw bagay sa classy image niya.? Dressed for stress or success?

?Sexy Actress asked a co-star if she should admit or deny that she?s part of the video scandal. With the glaring evidence I saw for myself, I think it would just boomerang if SA keeps pretending it isn?t her. Would her body (lying in bed) lie to you?

Erratum:

It wasn?t Wilson Tieng, but Wilson Lee Flores, whom I was with at PLDT MyDSL?s Cebu event as I wrote in a previous column. My apologies to them, who are both my dear colleagues.

Victorinox Swiss Army Watches pays tribute to international boxing legend Manny Pacquiao with special limited edition timepieces (only 1,000 units to be sold). It?s called Maverick II Chrono ?Pacman? Limited Edition. This is the first time that a globally renowned brand lends its name to a Filipino athlete with a special collection designed for him. It?s brag time!
