MANILA, Philippines ? There?s not a drop of Pinoy blood in his new leading lady?s veins, but Vic Sotto says that Thai-Australian model-veejay-actress Paula Taylor felt right at home on the set of the new romantic comedy, Tony Y. Reyes? ?Love On Line (LOL).?
Taylor reportedly hit it off with the cast and crew and would often join them, feasting on local delicacies.
She has a healthy appetite, Bossing said of his new leading lady, and isn?t finicky at all.
?She likes sisig and even tried dinuguan,? Sotto recalled. ?I asked her: Do you want to know the ingredients of dinuguan? She just smiled and answered: ?I don?t want to know.? Cowboy siya.?
Taylor also loves sinigang, which is similar to the Thai soup Tom Yum Koong, she explained.
Told she could pass for a Filipina, she responded swiftly. ?Salamat po.?
She has picked up a whole slew of Tagalog words of late ? like ?Mainit dito (It?s hot here).?
Once, co-star Leo Martinez, who plays her uncle in ?LOL,? taught her a cuss word in Filipino ? telling her it meant ?hot? instead.
?I was saying it all day. When I asked a friend about it, I learned it was a bad word,? she told Inquirer Entertainment.
Still, she has adjusted quite nicely in the country.
?I?ve been spending a lot of time in Manila. Last year, I was here every month. I?m almost a local now,? she quipped.
Meeting Enteng
It was her first time to meet ?Bossing? (Sotto) though. ?But I watched videos of his old movies (like the ?Enteng Kabisote? series) on YouTube.?
Sotto, for his part, caught her stint on ?Amazing Race Asia? and is familiar with her work as veejay for Channel [V] and as model for various local companies.
?But I only learned recently that she has a sitcom in Thailand (?True Love Next Door?) and that she starred in four movies there,? Sotto said.
Taylor has nothing but kind words for her leading man. ?He?s very charming. He takes care of his co-stars. He?s pretty down-to-earth in spite of his stature.?
Apart from being a big star in Thailand, Taylor has also done ?a small, low-budget Hollywood film,? titled ?Shadows? with William Hurt and Cary Elwes.
She was initially daunted by the prospect of meeting Oscar winner Hurt. ?But he was very friendly. We didn?t have lots of scenes, but we were together in the workshops. I learned a lot about technique just by watching him.?
She said that she got to spend more time with Elwes who plays her partner in the supernatural drama directed by John Penney.
?He?s sweet and fun. I told him I watched his movie ?The Princess Bride? more than once. He said it was his favorite as well.?
She even bragged to her dad: ?Remember the guy in ?Princess Bride?? He?s my husband now!?
