Yasmien knows her rights

MANILA, Philippines?GMA 7 actress Yasmien Kurdi tries her best not to discuss her ongoing sexual harassment case against former ?SRO: Suspetsa? co-star Baron Geisler, but she can?t help unleashing a mouthful.

She bristles: ?It was frustrating. Nakakainis.?

She?d rather not go into details, she says. ?I don?t want to be misquoted. I think it?s better to let the lawyers do the talking.?

She says she?s determined to pursue the case, contrary to reports that she wanted to back out.

She feels strongly about the issue of human rights because she hopes to take up law in the future.

Kurdi, who?s a second year Foreign Service student at the New Era University, advises women not to lose heart. ?They shouldn?t feel scared or intimidated. If they get harassed, they should speak out. If they keep quiet, it would only encourage the man to victimize other innocent women.?

She, however, declines to comment on fellow Kapuso star Katrina Halili?s sex video case.

?It?s hard to express my opinion because I might step on people?s toes. I?m an endorser of Flawless which is co-owned by Dr. Vicki Belo. My manager is Lolit Solis (with GMA Artist Center). Katrina Halili was my batch mate in ?Starstruck.??

What she?d rather focus on is the campaign of animal rights activists against the plan to put up a Greyhound racing club in the country.

?It?s so offensive. They are using poor dogs for gambling. Why legalize it? Who would benefit? As a member of Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), I want to talk to our lawmakers so that they won?t legalize Greyhound racing.?
