MANILA, Philippines?Actresses Ruffa Gutierrez, Lea Salonga and Boots Anson-Roa, Senator Pia Cayetano, model Abigail Arenas, radio DJ Delamar and sportscaster Patricia Bermudez-Hizon are urging women to help end a vicious cycle that has enslaved many all over the world.
The Filipino celebrities have joined Avon?s international Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign, which has enjoyed the support of big names in entertainment, media and public service since it was launched early this year. Ruffa is the local spokesperson.
Proceeds from the sale of the company?s fund-raising products?Global Empowerment Necklace and Avon Lotion?will go to the Women?s Crisis Center (WCC), which hopes to extend the operating hours of its help hotlines, through which women can report abuse.
