Cast against type as villain

MANILA, Philippines?GMA 7 talent Nadine Samonte doesn?t mind playing villain to Marian Rivera?s ?Darna.?

In the new series, Nadine is cast against type as a monster, in the dual role of sweet Roma and freakish Babaeng Impakta.

Nadine denied earlier tabloid reports that she was unhappy to be relegated to kontrabida parts, because she had played lead roles in previous Kapuso afternoon drama shows.

?I was misunderstood,? she said. ?What I said was that I am happy with whatever project GMA 7 gives me.?

Especially, she said, since her role in ?Darna? is quite demanding owing to the character?s schizophrenic nature. ?It?s kinda difficult shifting from good to bad.?

?Darna? reunites her with Marian. ?We worked together on ?Super Twins,?? Nadine said. ?She played my mom.?

They re-bonded during the workshop before ?Darna? started production. ?She?s my friend from way back, but we became more at ease with each other after that,? said Nadine. The girls also had the same leading man in the past, Oyo Sotto.

Did they swap pointers and reminisce about their reel- and real-life partner? Nadine laughed, ?Ay, no, Marian and I shouldn?t talk about those things! No more na!?

She refused to be diplomatic about her reported tiff with fellow Kapuso Isabel Oli.

Should they bump into each other, Nadine said, ?I?d rather not chat with someone if I feel I?d been hurt. I?m not plastic. I wouldn?t pretend as if nothing happened.?
