GMA 7 fun run has a serious side

MANILA, Philippines ? One vice presidential candidate?s biggest concern is finding a pair of jogging pants.

Another aspirant is willing to charter a private plane from General Santos City to make it in time for the fun run this Sunday in Metro Manila.

Yet another politico signed, without reading, the contract that covers the event dubbed ?Tatakbo Ka Ba?? ? mounted by GMA 7 (Inquirer is one of the Kapuso media partners for ?Election 2010.?)

?We invited presidential as well as vice-presidential aspirants,? said Jessica Soho, vice president for News Programs. Days before the event, Soho and colleagues Marissa Flores, Leo Matias and Clyde Mercado were walking around brandishing lists with crosses, checks and all sorts of marks.

To be covered in a special edition of ?Unang Hirit,? from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m., ?Tatakbo? will feature Kapuso talents Regine Velasquez, Marian Rivera, Marvin Agustin and Ehra Madrigal.

Soho invited the stars through their handlers, whenever she bumped into them in the elevators at the station. She has the same gym trainer as Madrigal. ?I invited her through my spinning class trainer Xhi Togarda,? the exec said.

?Tatakbo? has a serious side, too, said Flores. ?There will be a demonstration booth where voters will be instructed on the automated system.?

Soho added, ?We will also ask the candidates to sign a pledge for clean and honest elections, and have it notarized by Comelec chair Jose Melo. This was the idea of GMA 7 president Felipe Gozon,? she said.
