MANILA, Philippines?Fourteen Filipino films will be shown in the Retrospective Section of the 14th Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea from October 8 to 16, according to the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
The final list for the section titled ?Mabuhay Pinoy Indie Cinema? includes films released as early as the 1950s, as well as those that premiered only this year. Five independent films will also be showcased in the Current sections, the FDCP reported.
Leading the retro lineup is Manuel Conde?s 1950 historical epic ?Genghis Khan,? believed to be the best screen adaptation of the life of the Mongol conqueror.
?Insiang,? by another legendary Filipino director, Lino Brocka, is also part of the selection.

?Astig,? Cinemalaya 2009 Best Full-Length Feature by GB Sampedro, will compete in the New Currents section. Richard Somes? ?Yanggaw? will be screened as part of the Window on Asian Cinema section. ?Baseco Bakal Boys,? by Ralston Jover, will be featured in the Wide Angle section.
Milo Tolentino?s ?Blogog? and Borgy Torre?s ?Bonsai? will be screened in the Short Films section.
