MANILA, Philippines? At 21, singer-actress Sarah Geronimo is in no hurry to have a boyfriend.
?I?m happy with what I have right now. Family and friends are my inspiration,? Sarah said at the press con for her ?Record Breaker? concert set Nov. 7.
With her tight work schedule, she said, she hasn?t had time for school, let alone romance. ?I?m okay, bahay-trabaho lang. Love can wait.? But, the singer-actress adds, ?I?m not looking, though admittedly I pray for it.?
Fellow concert artist Mark Bautista has been very vocal about his interest in courting Sarah, whom he first worked with in the movie ?Mars Ravelo?s Lastikman: Unang Banat? (2004). Sarah was briefly linked to TV heartthrobs John Lloyd Cruz and Mark Herras.
Have her parents been too strict? ?They are protective, not just of me but of all their children,? Sarah noted. ?I have a 23-year-old sister, wala pa ring boyfriend. My parents want all of us to finish our studies. In all fairness to them, however, they understand our need for inspiration, for [romantic] love. They are praying for me to meet a God-fearing man, who will take care of me and be a good influence on my life.?
Until then, Sarah?s loves are singing and performing. ?It can be really tiring when I tour; and it may seem boring to others ... But the moment I hear the audience applaud, nawawala lahat ng pagod ko.?
Being in the cast of a good movie gives her a different high. ?I feel flattered when people go to the theater to watch my work,? Sarah said. ?There?s more pressure in acting than in performing on stage, which I?ve been doing since I was small.?
The ?Pop Princess? is set to do a dramatic movie with Judy Ann Santos early next year. ?We?ve not discussed the story,? she said. ?I?m excited and tense at the same time. People liked me in comedies. Heavy drama will be a big change for me.?
Sarah?s last two films with John Lloyd Cruz??A Very Special Love? and ?You Changed My Life??were both box-office hits. A sequel is on the drawing board, Sarah said.
?Record Breaker? will be her fourth concert at the Araneta Coliseum. ?There?s no final lineup of guests yet,? said Sarah, ?but it will be bigger and different from the previous three?more exciting.?
