MANILA, Philippines?Another Cinemalaya entry has been invited to an international film festival. Milo Sogueco?s ?Sanglaan? is competing in the 15th Lyon Asian Film Festival set in France from November 3 to 8. ?Sanglaan,? which tells the story of a pawnshop in Pritil, Tondo, that?s on the verge of closing, is the debut film of Sogueco and won two awards in Cinemalaya. ?Kinatay? wins in Spain
Brillante Ma. Mendoza?s ?Kinatay? brought home two awards in the 42nd Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia held in Spain this week. Mendoza won Best Director and Teresa Barrozo won Best Original Soundtrack. Mendoza, who won Best Director in this year?s Cannes, is currently in Paris for press interviews for ?Kinatay? which will open in France next month. Bayani San Diego Jr.
