KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines?Three persons were killed while 50 others were injured when the Isuzu Forward truck they were riding plunged 20 feet down into a ravine in Barangay, Bulatukan, Makilala, North Cotabato Tuesday afternoon, police authorities said.
The incident took place around 2:55 p.m., according to Insp. Ramil Hojilla, Makilala police chief.
He identified one of the fatalities as Elmer Cabrera, a resident of Tangtangan town, South Cotabato.
The two other fatalities were among the 52 wounded victims rushed to various hospitals in North Cotabato and Davao del Sur.
Hojilla said that based on investigation, the Isuzu truck from Tantangan, South Cotabato was heading towards Digos City in Davao del Sur when the accident took place.
He said while negotiating a curve in Barangay Bulatukan, the truck's brakes malfunctioned, causing it to fall into the ravine.
Hojilla said Army soldiers, who were passing by the area, rescued the victims.
