Childhood flashbacks

MANILA, Philippines ? TV host and commercial model Bianca Gonzalez said the recent visit of Living Stars to her Parañaque City home made her relive memories of her happy childhood.

?I remember how my siblings and I used to slide down from the railings of this staircase. The piano in the living room reminds me of the afternoons when I threw tantrums because I didn?t want to sit with my piano tutor,? Bianca said as she ushered us into the 600-sq. m., split-level home in BF Homes Executive Village.

Bianca recalled how she fought with her brother Juan Carlos and sister Aissa over the use of the telephone, and also about the time she painted and decorated the doors of the closets that she used to share with Aissa.

Souvenirs

?We have lived in this house since 1990. It?s a combination of wood and stone. Nothing has changed here. We have never renovated it,? she said. ?But recently, my sister, who is an interior designer, spruced up some of the upholstery.?

Most of the knick-knacks in the house were bought by Bianca?s parents from their travels. ?I love to travel, too, but I don?t have the patience to bring home souvenirs. Come to think of it, it?s good to have a piece of somewhere in your home,? said the host of ABS-CBN?s ?Pinoy Big Brother.?

Framed art pieces in the living area are by her parent?s close friends. The large family photo was taken in 2007 when they visited Juan Carlos in San Francisco, where he is based.

The six-seat dining set is one of the oldest pieces in the house, noted Bianca. ?It?s made of rosewood. We got it from an old shop in Las Piñas. We use it only for special occasions, like Christmas. We all like bringing our meals to the bedroom.?

Walk-in closet

Bianca related: ?My sister helped me turn our kuya?s bedroom into my walk-in closet. She hired a carpenter to make some shelves and cabinets. I have so many things; they don?t fit in the old closet anymore.?

In the middle of the room, Aissa placed what Bianca called a ?thinking? table. ?I kind of like to sit down and take my time, drink coffee while I?m choosing clothes to wear to work,? Bianca explained.

She said there?s hardly anyone in the house now, especially since she and her siblings are all busy with work.

?You hear of houses that are tambayan ng barkada. This house isn?t anything like that. It?s very simple. It?s quiet here most of the time.?
