MANILA, Philippines?Heart Evangelista is on cloud nine.
The Kapuso actress has just won plum roles on the big and small screens.
She plays Sharon Cuneta?s rebellious daughter in ?Mano Po 6: My Mother,? her first mainstream film in five years, since ?Bcuz of U.?
Last year, her indie film, ?Ay Ayeng,? was shown and it won for her a Famas award for Best Actress. She?s ?overwhelmed? by this victory. ?I did ?Ay, Ayeng? when I was down, professionally and personally. I didn?t expect to win.?
The trophy now sits snugly on her bedside table. ?It?s the first thing I see when I wake up and the last thing I see before I fall asleep. I?m relishing it, because eventually I?ll have to go back to reality and work.?
She?s excited about ?Mano Po 6,? and tells the Inquirer that she has read the script three times. ?I?ve memorized my lines, so I won?t forget even if I get nervous [during the actual shoot].?
She?s bound to get anxious, Heart admits, because it?s her first time to share the screen with Sharon, ?one of the actresses I?ve always looked up to. I know I wasn?t the first choice for the role, but still I?m very happy.?
To prepare for the part, Heart says she watched her favorite film, ?Joy Luck Club.? She?s cramming on the ?Mano Po? series, too. ?I hope to watch all five.?
On TV, she was recently cast as Richard Gutierrez?s leading lady in GMA 7?s remake of the Koreanovela, ?Full House.?
?It?s the total opposite of ?Mano Po,?? Heart says. ?The show is a romantic comedy and I play a happy-go-lucky girl.?
