MANILA, Philippines ? Sarah Germonimo?s latest concert, dubbed ?Record Breaker? held last Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum, was once again a qualified success with people packing the venue to near capacity.
It was Sarah?s fourth show at the Big Dome; all previous gigs were similarly well-attended. With such a record, Sarah might as well be officially declared the country?s biggest female pop star.
A first-time attendee noted that Sarah?s crowd represented different social classes, but concluded that the bulk of the 21-year-old singer?s fans come from the masses. Proof of this was the ubiquitous presence of the Popsters ? Sarah?s diehard fans club.
No way could it fail
Skeptics may argue that there was no way this concert could fail, given the massive support of her home studio (ABS-CBN), record label, (Viva), and several corporate sponsors ? the concert?s title is a direct reference to Sarah?s Sunsilk theme song. Still, it was clear that the young lady?s performing talent ? which spans the pop, R&B, hip hop and dance genres ? is topnotch.
The concert came on the heels of her romance-comedy movie, ?You Changed My Life,? which reportedly holds the new record as the highest-grossing Pinoy movie.
