MANILA, Philippines—With next year’s national and local elections fast approaching, GMA 7 has recast and revamped some shows that feature stars who are running for public office, Wilma Galvante, the network’s senior vice president for Entertainment, announced on Tuesday.

The changes will begin with the first day of the filing of candidacy on November 20.

Richard Gomez has quit as host of “Family Feud,” to focus on his bid for a congressional seat in Ormoc.

Dingdong Dantes will take over as host of the game show.

Since Dantes will be busy with “Family Feud,” he will be replaced by Dennis Trillo as one of the hosts of the reality search “Starstruck,” along with Raymond Gutierrez and Carla Abellana.

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla has also left his infotainment show “Kap’s Amazing Stories,” which will now be hosted by his youngest son Ram Revilla and will be retitled “Kap’s Amazing Stories: Kids’ Edition.”

Ara Mina and Alfred Vargas, who are both running for councilor in Quezon City, have also signified their intention to leave their shows, said Galvante. (She was a mainstay on the afternoon soap “Tinik sa Dibdib,” while he was in the cast of “Darna.”)

Manny Paquiao’s sitcom “Show Me the Manny” will continue its run, but it will feature different lead actors instead of the boxer who is eyeing a congressional post.
