MANILA, Philippines — Gina Alajar on Tuesday spoke about the controversy stirred up by a comment on her Facebook account on the alleged romance between Manny Pacquiao and Krista Ranillo.
The actress-filmmaker rued the implication that she confirmed the affair. What she wrote: “If I am Jinkee Pacquiao, I will not give up Manny... Krista... is not at all worth it!”
On Sunday, Gina told the Inquirer by phone that she was standing by her words: “It’s my page and everyone has the right to express his or her own opinion in his or her site. I was just airing my sentiments on an issue that’s being discussed in the four corners of show biz... It was just unsolicited advice from me to Jinkee.”
Not public
Her Facebook account, she said, can be accessed only by friends and wasn’t meant for public viewing.
She would like to make one thing very clear: “I am not in any way involved in their life or movie (“Wapakman”) and I have no intention of riding on their publicity campaign. That will not do me any good.”
Gina explained why she was moved to write the entry because. “Manny [is] a Pinoy hero. He has brought so much pride and honor to our country. He should be spared from such intrigues.”
According to the ABS-CBN talk show “The Buzz,” Gina and Krista were previously linked in chismis columns. Krista was said to be one of the causes of the breakup of Gina’s marriage to actor Michael de Mesa.
According to “The Buzz,” Krista denied her involvement with Michael. Gina declined to comment on this aspect, simply saying: “I have no ill feelings.”
She would rather focus on her job as mentor on the GMA 7 reality show “Starstruck” and as actress on the same network’s mini-series, “SRO Presents Carinderia Queen.”
On both shows, she’s working with her son Geoff Eigenmann’s screen partner Carla Abellana. “She’s always gracious,” Gina said. “A good kid... very sweet.”
She’s also fond of Carla’s grandmother, veteran actress Delia Razon. “I directed her on a TV show once,” Gina recounted. “Tita Delia belongs to a generation of stars that I look up to.”
