PARTING WITH HER pricey Chanel bag and Tiffany necklace to an online charity auction was the “ultimate sacrifice” for Anne Curtis.

Anne and fellow ABS-CBN talent Angel Locsin are the organizers of Shop and Share, a celebrity online auction raising funds for victims of Storm “Ondoy” and Typhoon “Pepeng.”

During the fundraiser’s launch at Sining Kamalig Art Gallery in Gateway Mall, Quezon City, Angel said, “We know of friends who hug their favorite stuff before handing them over for the auction.”

Anne has also auctioned off a dress that, she said, “a lot of gay friends are dying to have.”

Angel considers a Hermes Kelly and YSL bag the most important items she has donated. She has auctioned off 14 other belongings.

Since it started, Shop and Share has made over $15,000. Proceeds go to the Philippine National Red Cross.

A total of 50 more items are being auctioned off on Ebay.ph, including Kris Aquino’s designer bags, Manny Pacquiao’s autographed training shoes and Ogie Alcasid’s Gundam toy robot, in mint condition.

Other donors are: Dennis Trillo, Sam Milby, Luis Manzano, Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Bubbles Paraiso, Ruffa Gutierrez, Regine Velasquez, Kim Chiu, Maxene Magalona, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Pokwang and Gerald Anderson.

Most of the bidders are Filipinos living abroad, Anne noted. “That’s expected. Our target market consists of Pinoys who have enough, with extra to spare. We’ve shipped a lot of items.”

Anne and Angel are considering making the online fundraising auction a yearly undertaking. “But we hope we won’t be raising funds for calamity victims again,” said Angel.
