MANILA, Philippines?GMA 7 director Louie Ignacio?s second art exhibit, ?Ave Maria,? celebrates his devotion to the Madonna and Child.

Ignacio (whose training is in advertising) paints during weekends in his Pagsanjan, Laguna rest home, in a studio built under a towering image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The 20 pieces in the new collection were done in a style he calls ?accidental? abstract. ?I just poured acrylic paint on canvas and images of the Madonna and Child were formed,? he said.

Days before the exhibit opening on Dec. 7, some of paintings have been bought by celebrity-friends: singers Regine Velasquez and Pops Fernandez and designer Edwin Tan. The exhibit runs until Dec. 28 at the Art Asia Gallery in SM Megamall.

Proceeds will go to the artist?s pet charities?Child Haus (for pediatric cancer patients), Golden Acres (for elderly women), Kapuso Foundation and the Aeta Community Choral of Kalibo, Aklan.

The Aeta choir is particularly close to his heart. ?I was having dinner in Boracay and heard these beautiful voices. I thought it was a CD. I was surprised to find out it was a choir,? he recalled.

He featured the choir, composed of displaced indigenous children, in his music video-docu ?Power to Unite? which won the Gold prize at the New York TV Festivals last year.

?I hope to give them musical instruments,? Ignacio said.
