Minnie and her famous significant other, Mickey, were a bit late, but nonetheless delighted everyone by dancing to festive jazz music at the press con for ?Disney on Ice: Disneyland Adventure,? the holiday show that runs from Dec. 25 to Jan. 3, 2010, at the Araneta Coliseum.
The iconic cartoon characters, originally created in 1928, with Walt Disney himself providing the voice for Mickey in the classic animation features, have likewise been appearing as mascot-ice skaters in the show that was first called ?World on Ice? in 1981.
?Disney on Ice: Disneyland Adventure? has never been seen in Southeast Asia, said Zach Ellard, marketing manager of Feld Entertainment, which is mounting the 10-date series.
Parents taking their kids will be glad to know that, joining the familiar cast of Disney characters (Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White, Cinderella, et al) in an original story with a plot are ?younger? cartoon characters?The Incredibles and ?Toy Story?s? Buzz Lightyear (from the Disney/Pixar films).
The backdrop is Disneyland which, Ellard explained, has been ?recreated? via an intricately designed set. ?Members of the audience will feel like they?re actually there,? he said.
?The story is told through the eyes of Mickey and Minnie,? he added. Mickey and friends take a vacation to enjoy Disneyland?s attractions but the fun will be spoiled by the evil fairy Maleficent (the antagonist character in ?Sleeping Beauty?) and her minions.

A special show has been added to the Dec. 27 date for victims of Storms ?Ondoy? and ?Pepeng.?
At the press con, representatives of the special show?s beneficiaries, Children?s Hour and Rizal Province, were on hand to formally receive tickets earmarked for them.
