MANILA, Philippines ? I am sad that my ?second mom? Tita Nena (Amalia Fuentes) and my kumareng Liezl are at odds again.
Although Tita Nena loves Liezl dearly, she has an unusual way of showing it. Both of them should not have granted those TV interviews which only did more harm than good to their volatile relationship.
I remember hiding from Tita Nena for six hours as she waited for me to come home at the time when she wanted to interrogate me about Liezl?s elopement with Albert Martinez. She knew that Liezl and I don?t keep secrets from each other. I didn?t want to commit a breach of trust with Liezl so I didn?t divulge anything to Tita Nena.
Liezl and Albert had so many struggles in the US but they stuck together. That?s why I cried at their church wedding where I was one of the bridesmaids.
It?s been 25 years since that day. Maybe aside from Liezl and Albert renewing their marriage vows, Tita Nena and Liezl should also renew their vows as mother and daughter ? so not only Liezl?s cancer might be completely healed, but their relationship as well.
Sometimes we have to love our kids a little less to understand them more. And as children, we must remember that our parents might be too old to bend that they might break, so we should be the ones to reach out to them.
The new year is as good a time as any for Tita Nena and Liezl to do exactly that ? away from the glare of TV cameras.

Lotlot de Leon had a happy reunion with her mom Nora Aunor in the United States last Christmas.
I remember Ate Guy used to frequent our house when I was growing up. Ma took the Superstar?s deepest secrets with her to the grave.
Lot is my kinakapatid. Even when we don?t see each other often, we somehow feel connected.
That?s why I?m happy to know that all is well between Ate Guy and Lot. Let their picture on this page say the rest.

I asked director non-pareil Joey Reyes what changes he wants to see in the local show biz industry this year.
?Greater and wider patronage of good and deserving indie movies,? he said. ?Greater respect given to the film and TV workers as creative agents and not merely as instruments for acquiring profit. A healthier and more constructive spirit of competition among studios and networks. The end of media monopolies.?
Easier said than done, but doable if only the biz movers and shakers would be willing to. If they badly want change to happen, it will.

Eugene Domingo is excited to start shooting ?Here Comes The Bride.? After the tremendous success of her launching movie, ?Kimmydora,? doesn?t she feel pressured to outdo herself?
?Not at all,? Uge says. ?In fact, I am just so excited to do more films this year. I?m meeting with creative minds about story lines and concepts. It?s all about helping each other in making a worthwhile film.?
Kudos to Uge who takes fun (in making movies) seriously!

LJ Moreno is all agog for her wedding with cager Jimmy Alapag on Aug. 19 ?He proposed last October 1,? the bride-to-be says. ?He threw a surprise birthday party for me. He blindfolded me from the house all the way to the hotel. When I took off the blindfold, all our friends and family were there.?
LJ and Jimmy are a welcome addition to the list of actress/basketball player couples. May their union never have foul trouble and always have the winning shot.
