Dollywood
Snap out of the blues, Roxanne

COULD IT BE TRUE THAT ROXANNE Guinoo frequents an upscale hospital due to her bouts of depression? If so, hope she snaps out of her blues soon and starts the new year right. Chin up and cheer up, girl! Make 2010 a ?perfect 10? year!

I missed the episode of ?Showtime? where Rosanna Roces unleashed unsavory comments about teachers when a contestant didn?t know the answer to her question about Jose Rizal. But a lot of my readers who are teachers e-mailed me saying that they got offended by Osang?s harsh words.

I heard that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board summoned the production staff of ?Showtime? regarding that incident. There?s a lesson to be learned here. TV can either educate or mis-educate viewers.

Ryan Agoncillo?s efficient manager, Noel Ferrer, wants to set the record straight regarding GMA 7?s offer to Ryan. ?He?s enjoying being given the chance to work with ABS, GMA and TV 5,? explains Noel.

?Tama nga yung na-coin na title kay Ryan na Crossover King. He is honored and thankful to GMA 7 for the offer but we are still making them understand that Ryan can?t leave ?Talentadong Pinoy? just like that especially since it has made TV history in terms of ratings and awards. We both hope that the networks continue to co-exist and let Ryan try to bridge the gap by making all the crossover efforts work,? he added.

Ryan?s working equation as a Kapamilya, Ka-Shake and Kapuso all rolled into one: 2+5=7.

It was such a delight to interview Joey Albert in ?Stop, Talk & Listen,? my daily TV show with Maui Taylor and Mr. Fu, on Cignal TV?s Viva Cinema Channel.

There?s no Joey Albert song I don?t like. Joey, who looks and sounds as refreshing as ever, is excited about her new album with Viva Records, ?Songs of the Heart.? It contains 14 cuts?Joey?s versions of hit songs of other artists such as ?Forevermore,? ?Muntik Na Kitang Minahal,? ?Rainbow,? ?You?ll Be Safe Here? and ?Kahit Kailan.?

?I fondly call it a cougar album,? she said, giggling. ?Usually, younger artists do covers of my songs. Now it?s my turn to do my interpretation of songs of mostly young bands/singers.?

How does he feel when she hears a remake of her song not given justice by another singer? ?That?s not for me to judge,? she replied. ?Though it?s always flattering to hear my songs live on.?

Being a Pinoy music icon, what?s her greatest achievement so far? ?Motherhood,? she said. ?Winning awards and having gold records are nothing compared to raising kids. When people say that I?ve raised my kids well, then I can say I have done something right in my life after all.?

To paraphrase a line from one of her many songs, ?We remember the girl (called Joey) and we can still remember the good feeling her songs left us with.?

Maui Taylor, Katya Santos, Sheree and Aubrey Miles will be repackaged as the ?Tutti Frutti Girls.? Nope, they?re not ?forbidden fruit? but their gigs/pictorials will take you to your mind?s ?Garden of Eden.? The four femme fatales are ripe for the picking!
