Carla-Geoff not playing second fiddle to Kris-Aljur

MANILA, Philippines? It?s a war of the love teams.

Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann know they are being pitted against Kris Bernal and Aljur Abrenica, their co-stars on GMA 7?s ?The Last Prince.?

?Our fans shouldn?t get upset,? Carla explains. ?We?re not playing support.? Geoff agrees: ?Our roles are crucial in the series.?

Carla and Geoff are ?secure? that the network has plans for their tandem after ?Rosalinda? and ?SRO Cinemaserye Presents Carinderia Queen.?

Are they willing to work with other partners? Carla doesn?t mind being paired with ?Starstruck V? co-host Dennis Trillo or Mark Anthony Fernandez, or Robin Padilla.

Geoff isn?t keen on the idea. ?I?d rather not split up the love team right now.?

But again, Carla and Geoff side-step the possibility of being partners off-screen as well. ?We are happy with what we have now,? Carla says. ?I must admit that working constantly has developed our friendship. But we?re not yet a couple.?

They often have petty quarrels, she says. ?We argue about food. He forces me to eat; I stop him from pigging out. He?s stubborn.? Geoff doesn?t deny that: ?I like getting my way [but] after three shows [together], we are doing well both onscreen and off.?

Still, rivalry is not inevitable even between partners, especially in local show biz, where the female half of the love team always ends up being more popular.

Geoff doesn?t mind playing second fiddle to Carla. ?If she shines more than I do,? he says, ?then good for her. She?s been working hard. That will never be an issue between us. The outcome of my career depends solely on me.?
