Dead set on a baby

MANILA, Philippines?Judy Ann Santos and husband Ryan Agoncillo are dead set on having a baby soon.

Juday told Inquirer Entertainment that they are planning to take a month-long vacation starting in April??probably in the Caribbean??for a second honeymoon.

?We?re very excited,? said Juday. ?Ryan deserves a break more than I do. I?d never seen him work so hard as in this past year.?

Ryan co-hosts the noontime show ?Eat ? Bulaga!? on GMA 7 and the talent search ?Talentadong Pinoy? on TV5.

?We?re still planning our trip, checking where our budget will take us,? Juday said during a gathering to launch her newest ABS-CBN teleserye, ?Habang May Buhay.? Gusto ko iba naman, somewhere there?s no traffic.?

Juday said the thought of taking a leave made her sad, since it would take her away from their 5-year-old adopted daughter Johanna Lois or Yohan.

?But if we bring her along, paano kami makakagawa ng kasunod?? the actress jested. ?I?ve been receiving a lot of tips on how to get pregnant. I?m trying very hard not to feel pressured. If I don?t get pregnant this year, I guess it means Ryan and I need to save up some more for the baby.?

Juday?s teleserye, which finally aired on Feb. 1, took three years to finish. ?I have to admit that I felt bad about the delay. ?Di maiwasan ang tampo. Other artists also experience this. I?m just one of those who aren?t afraid to talk about it publicly,? she said. ?In all fairness to my bosses in ABS-CBN, they were very apologetic. I guess they just wanted the show to be perfect.?

The teleserye had the working title ?Himala,? with Andoy Ranay, Mark Meily and John Lazatin at the helm, when it was first launched in 2007. ABS-CBN management said it did not want viewers to think that it was a remake of the Nora Aunor starrer, so it was changed to ?Humingi Ako sa Langit.? Directors Rechie del Carmen and Malou Sevilla took over the project.

Totally new

In the last quarter of 2009, management decided to scrap the project and start anew, this time, under the direction of Wenn Deramas.

?I chose not to look at what the other directors did. In a way, that?s less stressful for me. What we are offering the viewers is a totally new material,? said Deramas.

The show is the country?s first medical drama. ?Each week we present a case and attempt to solve it. The case is explained in a manner that the masses will easily understands,? the director said.

Deramas said he was thankful for the chance to work on a dramatic vehicle. ?My first project was a drama show, ?Mula sa Puso? in 1999,? Deremas said. ?With very little direction from me, Juday gives me what I want. The same goes for Gina (Alajar), Rio (Locsin) and Gladys (Reyes).?

?Habang May Buhay? also stars Derek Ramsay, Joem Bascon, Will Devaughn and Tetchie Agbayani.
