MANILA, Philippines?Pop singer Myrus couldn?t believe that Regine Velasquez agreed to guest in his first full concert on Feb. 27 at Teatrino in Greenhills.
He?s also surprised that tickets are selling fast, never mind that the venue has less than 500 seats.
How fast are the tickets going?
I?m worried that many of my fans can?t see the concert if they don?t buy this week.
What can people expect from the show?
I?m paying tribute to the sentimental Original Pilipino Music of the ?70s, ?80s and ?90s?from the jukebox hits to memorable love songs of divas, to the ballads of the most iconic Filipino male singers and bands. I also have a duet with Regine. I?m having dreams of that moment already...
Do you find covering songs easier or harder to do, than writing your own?
Doing a cover is way harder than singing my own songs. There are so many things I have to consider. I make sure that I get to ?own? the song without being disrespectful to the original singer. Working with a good arranger could make a lot of difference.
If people were to look at your CD collection, what would surprise them?
Probably they?ll be surprised to know that I like Japanese and Korean songs. I have actually memorized some of them.
Who is your style icon?
No one in particular. My stylist Rex Atienza takes care of my look and style and I?m very happy with it.
A big question from female fans?are you taken?
No, but I?m looking for an inspiration.
