Ruffa clears the air with scared Shaina

MANILA, Philippines?Ruffa Gutierrez, once romantically linked to John Lloyd Cruz, has admitted that she talked with Shaina Magdayao about receiving ?nasty? and ?explicit? text messages initially thought to have come from the younger actress.

The 20-year-old Shaina is reportedly John Lloyd?s current flame. Both Kapamilya contract artists have denied this.

Ruffa told Inquirer Entertainment that the meeting with Shaina, held in the ABS-CBN compound last week, was initiated by Star Magic heads Johnny Manahan and Mariole Alberto.

Quiet exchange

?They said it was best to sit down and talk before the issue got worse,? Ruffa told writers in a gathering in Makati on Tuesday to launch Azure Urban Resort Residences. Ruffa said the exchange was ?very calm, quiet but serious.?

Ruffa related: ?I heard Shaina was scared in the beginning. I said, ?Why? I don?t bite.? We talked about a lot of things, which I do not want to share in detail anymore. Private na ?yon. What?s important now is that we?ve cleared the air and there?s no more reason for us to have any conflict.?

She added it was possible that Shaina had an idea who the mysterious texter was.

Close to Vina

?It no longer matters, either, if I initially thought the messages came from Shaina. Now I know they didn?t?that?s what?s important,? the TV host said. ?We all really have to be aware that, in this industry, there are people who want to hurt others, who want others to feel bad. We have to be very cautious.?

The actress-TV host said she?s glad the problem has been ironed out. ?I?m very close to Vina (Morales, Shaina?s eldest sister). She?s my kumare. We?ve known each other since ?That?s Entertainment.? I may not be as close to Shaina, but I?m very fond of the other members of her family.?

Ruffa refused to discuss reports that she is leaving ABS-CBN to host a talk show in the newly reorganized TV5. ?I will answer questions soon,? she simply said.

However, Ruffa?s mom and talent manager Annabelle Rama confirmed to Inquirer Entertainment that Ruffa received a ?good offer? from TV5.

?Para sa akin, ?di kaya ng iba ang offer na ito, but we?re not talking about contracts yet,? Annabelle disclosed. She added that a press conference will be held on Friday about the new development.

Ruffa, 35, gamely talked about her two daughters? recent appearance on the Sunday gag show, ?Goin? Bulilit.? Said the proud mom of Lorin, 6, and Venice, 5, ?The episode did so well in the ratings that the program wants to feature the two of them again.? She added that the girls will appear on the gag show?s March 7 episode.

?It?s okay for them to do this once or twice a month during the summer, or as long as they maintain their grades and promise to be good girls,? Ruffa explained. ?This show is really good for them. They get to meet a lot of people their age.?

Stage mom material

She added: ?I try not to be a stage mom to them. I visited them on the set once and I couldn?t control myself. Nag-feeling director ako. I felt ashamed, so I decided to just stay in the dressing room.?

If she had her way, Ruffa said she would like her daughters to finish school before going into acting. ?I want them to follow KC?s (Concepcion) career path. I?d like them to get a degree from an Ivy League university. Posing for magazine covers and shooting for commercials are okay for now. They?re having fun.?

Ruffa said she follows a parenting technique that?s different from that of her mom. ?Don?t get me wrong, I?m proud of how my mom raised us. Walang naligaw ng landas sa amin,? she said. ?As a mom, I want the girls to respect me but also be able to tell me their secrets, treat me like their barkada.?
