THE ROOTS OF A TREE SUPport its leaves, flowers, fruits and branches, but they are hidden under the ground. No one sees them, heaps praises upon them or writes poems about them.
Like roots, true servants are happy to serve even without recognition or media exposure. They work behind the scene and toil under austere conditions to assist others without asking for anything in return.
Enlightenment
Roots look unattractive compared to the colors of flowers and texture of a leaf. Yet, they serve everyone without discrimination. They?re found at the bottom of the tree, but the parts above them cannot thrive or survive without them. In like manner, society cannot do well without its root-like servants?they perform beneficial acts for the well-being of their fellowmen. There can be no genuine happiness without the wise sages, who nourish our existence with wisdom and enlightenment.
Flowers are more celebrated, but they eventually wither, while roots remain. Similarly, some people?s superficial display of service is shallow and fleeting. But, root-like servants will go on serving and motivating others. Like roots, let?s serve without seeking recognition and help without waiting for rewards.
