BACOLOD CITY, Philippines?Policemen in?Negros Occidental will be on tight watch as Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao faces?Ghanian Josh Clottey in Dallas, Texas on?Sunday.
Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar, acting spokesman of the Negros Occidental command of the Philippine National Police, said that all 31 police units in the province have been alerted to ensure safety of Negrenses during the fight.
Descallar added that the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Management Company headed by Superintendent Norberto Boston would be on standby alert for any eventuality.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental PNP director Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix has directed all police chiefs to be on full alert this Sunday by providing police visibility in all places of convergence and other strategic areas to preempt any possible attack from lawless elements and the New People?s Army.
The unit will coordinate with the nearest Philippine Army detachments in the province in securing vital installations like cell sites and piers, Descallar said.
Live feeds via satellite of the fight will be shown in hotels, theaters and government?gymnasiums in Bacolod City on Sunday.
