Emily Blunt: BF John Krasinski is no wolfman

LOS ANGELES?Emily Blunt is so busy making one movie after another that she hardly has time to plan an important event in her life?her wedding to actor John Krasinski.

Engaged to John, ?The Office? star who is reportedly one of the contenders for the title role in the movie ?The First Avenger: Captain America,? Emily started this year with ?The Wolfman.? There are reports though that Emily and John, who was recently seen in Meryl Streep?s ?It?s Complicated,? might finally make that march in June. Emily was once linked to singer Michael Buble, who is himself engaged to Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre (what a long name!), an Argentinean actress.

Emily, a recent Golden Globe Award Best Actress nominee for ?The Young Victoria,? has several other films lined up this year: ?Gulliver?s Travels,? ?The Adjustment Bureau? and ?The Girl.? Below are excerpts from our chat with the British actress, whose major break was in ?The Devil Wears Prada.?

When are you going to get married?

Oh my God, that is the million-dollar question. We need to work it out.

Does John have a Wolfman in him?

No, John Krasinski does not have a Wolfman living inside of him (laughing). No.

The men are often the bad ones in movies. Would you be interested in playing a real bad character?

Maybe it?s time for a she-devil. I would be interested in playing a real baddie. I?ve never really played someone who?s malevolent and nasty.

We recently interviewed Shirley MacLaine who said she was shocked that all the young actresses are so skinny. She told us that we should ask the actresses ?

To go eat a hamburger.

She asked us what the actresses eat. So what do you eat?

I was just doing a press tour in Rome. So I pretty much ate pasta every single day. I had the best meal of my life in Rome. We went to this place called Antica Pesa. I had cacio e pepe, which is spaghetti with butter, pecorino cheese and black pepper. My brain melted. It was so good. I couldn?t stop eating. I usually like anything that?s bad for me. If I feel like I?ve overdone it, I try to have a bit of a cleanse. But it?s more because I start to feel unhappy. I feel ashamed at how much we got through.

So what is your cleansing diet?

I?ve never really followed a diet. Diets just make me instantly feel hungry. Just the word ?diet? makes me feel hungry. But I think a good thing to do is eat lots of green vegetables, if you can do that for one day. Just eat only green food?apple, kiwi, spinach and broccoli. You?re starving all day but you only have to do it for a day (laughing). It?s very rare that I go on a cleanse. When I have to get into shape, I eat very healthy and I work out.

Can you talk about your role in ?Gulliver?s Travels??

I play a dimwitted Lilliputian princess. It was really fun to play a bit of a bimbo. She?s the girliest person I?ve ever played. Jack Black was a wonderful ringleader for all of us. He had buoyant energy on the set. Even though he did a lot of green-screen scenes, he came to the set to read off-lines for all of us. He was there every day. The movie is a smart, very witty, farcical version of the Jonathan Swift novel. I wonder if those who are deeply loyal to the book might be rubbed up the wrong way with our version.

How girly are you in real life?

I don?t think I?m very girly. The dress I wore to the last Golden Globes is the most girly dress I?ve ever worn in my life. I used to swear that I?d never wear pink. I used to throw tantrums if my mom would put me in pink clothes. I wasn?t into Barbies. I didn?t dream of being a princess. I wanted to be on the football team. I was actually desperate to be a boy. I was convinced that I should have been a boy. But now I love clothes so there?s an element of being girly with that. I have a lot of guy friends. I really enjoy being one of the boys. At the same time, I really respond well to strong women and women with a real sense of humor. I don?t like it when people get offended too easily.

It looked like you and John had a great night at the last Golden Globes.

We had the best night. The Golden Globes is always the best night. Everyone knows that. I know people were panicking about the rain. For me, it was like, I?m from England. That was a light drizzle. People were battling each other with their umbrellas outside. I thought it added to the excitement of the evening. I just had a wonderful table. I was on a great table. I thought it was one of the best Golden Globes that we?ve had.

Can you also talk about your movie with Matt Damon?

It?s called ?The Adjustment Bureau,? based on a Philip K. Dick short story. Like all of Philip?s work, it?s about creeping under people?s paranoia. I don?t want to say too much but it deals with elements like, are we surrounded by a Big Brother regime? Are we being watched and monitored? Does fate exist or are our paths to succeed or not in life actually being manipulated by a higher power? How much are we being governed and controlled? What?s integral to the movie is a love story between my character and Matt?s who is a guy running for Senate. Yeah, that?s all I?m going to say (laughing).

And you play a ballet dancer?

I play a very street-smart independent tough girl who is a contemporary ballet dancer. It was quite an undertaking for me because I?ve never danced (laughing). So I trained with this extraordinary modern dance company in New York called Cedar Lake. If you are ever in New York, you must run to see their show because what they do is staggering. I trained with them for weeks on end. It?s honestly the hardest thing I?ve ever had to do in my life.
