THE MOVIE and Television Review and Classification Board ordered the month-long suspension of ?Showtime? for ?vulgar and obscene? comments made by guest juror Rosanna Roces.
In its decision released Friday, the MTRCB said Roces? comments during the January 4 and 7 episodes of the talent show violated Sec. 3C of PD 1986. This section gives the Board the authority to stop from airing on television segments or scenes that are ?immoral, indecent, contrary to law and/or good customs, injurious to the prestige of the country or its people.?
In January, Laguardia ordered a 20-day suspension on ?Showtime? to prevent ?further probable violations? of the MTRCB implementing rules and regulations.
In a statement, ABS-CBN, which produces and airs ?Showtime,? pointed out that the Board?s recent decision was ?not final and executory.? Pending appeal, the network said ?Showtime? will still be aired.
