Direk Louie: Farewell ‘Party’

MANILA, Philippines ? TV Director Louie Ignacio has resigned from the GMA 7 Sunday variety show ?Party Pilipinas? on Tuesday.

?I?m sad. It?s painful, but nothing can change my mind,? he told Inquirer Entertainment in a phone interview that same day.

He said that he is saddened that some artists seem unprepared for the show. ?It?s either they don?t have time to practice or they don?t take rehearsals seriously.?

When the show suffers because of ill-prepared performers, ?it?s the director who gets blamed,? he said.

Ignacio directed ?SOP,? the precursor of ?Party? for 12 years. Early this year, ?SOP was axed and reformatted into ?Party.?

He is still undecided on his next move, he said.

?My last episode was the Cebu show. I won?t go to Davao (the next stop in the show?s summer road tour),? he said.

Tomorrow, he is set to fly to Paris, France, ?for a much-needed break.?

He related that his friend and frequent assistant director Rommel Gacho will take over the show.

Wilma Galvante, senior vice president for Entertainment TV, confirmed this. ?Rommel will pinch-hit in Davao. The show must go on.?
