ASIAN EYE Productions continues to produce major documentaries for Philippine television. Its founding partners include producers, Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala and Veronica Alcañeses-Pantig, director Jeannette Ifurung, and cinematographer Lee Meily.
It?s the company behind the documentary, ?Batas Militar,?about Ferdinand Marcos? martial law, which won awards from the New York Film Festival and the International Documentary Festival.
About the docu?s movers and shakers: Alikpala has produced documentaries for SBS Television Australia, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism and ?The Probe Team.? Pantig was one of the producers of the award-winning children?s shows, ?Five and Up? and ?Batibot.? Ifurung?s segments on ?Probe? have won awards at the New York Film Festival.
Incarceration
Mike Alcazaren, the docu?s director for reenactments, has won the Palanca Award. Writer Ed Lingao is an award-winning broadcast journalist. Historical adviser, Fe Zamora, is a recipient of the Jaime Ongpin Award for Excellence in Journalism. And, Meily has won awards for her cinematography in movies like ?Tanging Yaman.?
?The Assassination of Ninoy Aquino? is produced by the History Channel with Asian Eye Productions.
It premieres on May 2 at 8 p.m., and will also be shown on May 3 at 1 a.m. and 1 p.m., May 5 at 7p.m., May 6 at 1 a.m., 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., and May 8 at 10 a.m.
