As a Mother's day afterthought, I asked some celebs about the best love and career advice their moms ever gave them. No matter how much fame and fortune they achieve, stars will never outgrow their need for their moms.
As for me, in the love department, my mom used to tell me to find a guy who treats his own mom well because that is how he will eventually treat me. Career-wise, ma always said, ?Don?t fret if you are working more and being paid less because if you keep giving your all, then time will come when you will be working less and paid more.?
Thanks for all the lessons, my superwoMOM. I miss you more and more each day.
The vote of confidence that our moms unconditionally give us through the years is one vote that can never be bought nor tampered with. Hopefully, the same will hold true for our motherland at the polls today.

PAOLO BEDIONES: ?The best advice my mom gave me about love and career is something I still hold in my heart. She once told me when I was younger that, if we aren?t willing to risk getting hurt in doing something or loving someone, then it isn?t worth doing or that person isn?t worth loving in the first place.?

TETCHIE AGBAYANI: ?For my career, mom told me that I must finish my education. ?Yan lang ang magiging araro mo sa buhay at di mananakaw sa ?yo,? she said. She taught me that there can never be love without sacrifice. They are two sides of the same coin. No one can truly say they love you without being able to willingly sacrifice for you.?
***
JOHN ESTRADA: ?Mom told me not to ask my partner or my kids to be the best for me. I should be the best for them. For my career, she told me to keep outdoing myself and to be nice to everyone, especially to the unsung heroes and the little people I meet along the way.?
***
CRISTINE REYES: ?Ma told me never to spend on my boyfriend and to love my work with passion.?
***
MARK HERRAS: ?My mom always reminded me never to forget God in everything I do and that He should be the center of my relationship, imbes na paikutin ko mundo ko sa kung sino man ang GF ko. She also advised me never to quit show biz.?
***
AMY PEREZ: ?About my career, ma told me to just brush off intrigues and not let them affect my job. What?s important is that I know the truth. When it comes to love, I always argued with mama because, back then, I thought she was too strict with my suitors. She was against my getting married and having a baby. That was a point of realization for me. Dun ko na-value lahat-lahat ng tinuro niya sa akin, from cooking to cleaning that I thought I will have no use for. I am a better mother to Adi and Kyle because of what I learned from my mom.?
***
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA: ?On matters of the heart, mom told me to find someone who loves the good Lord and family and loves me for who I am. Mom told me to choose a career that will give me a sense of fulfillment.?
***
AIZA SEGUERRA: ?Sabi ni ma na sa lahat ng aspeto ng buhay ko at lahat ng gagawin ko, kailangan parating galing sa puso.?
***
RODERICK PAULATE: ?Mamang always told me to stay humble, disciplined, professional and respectful to everyone regardless of status or position. Matuto makisama sa lahat pati sa fans. In love, paalala ni ma na magmahal ako ng totoo pero dapat maging in control of my emotions.?
***
LANI MERCADO: ?Mom told me to always be an asset and not a liability at work and to my partner in life. She?s not much of a talker. She taught me by example what a good mother and wife should be.?
***
JED MADELA: ?Mom told me to keep my feet on the ground and never compromise the values she has instilled in me. As for love, mom said to always have mutual respect and everything else will follow.?
