OUT OF THE CLOSET
Robi Domingo, nerd no more

MANILA, Philippines?Robi Domingo, MYX VJ and first runner-up in the reality show ?Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus,? is studying to become a doctor, just like both his parents.

?Hopefully, after a few more years, I?ll be able to help other people the way they do,? said Robi, who is currently taking up BS Health and Sciences at the Ateneo de Manila. ?I know that show biz is not permanent. Right now, I?m just trying to strike while the iron is hot.?

Robi said joining ?PBB? has changed his life in a lot of ways. ?I used to be home by 10 p.m. Now, after ?PBB,? I get home at 10 a.m. the next day. Work is really tiring, but it?s worth it. I am able to do lots of exciting things,? he said. ?My routine before was house-school-church. I used to be a nerd. Because of my present work, I get to travel a lot for free. I was recently in the United States for the Star Magic World concert tour.?

Gadgets

I don?t leave home without my Sony PSP game console. I?ve got lots and lots of games stored in it. My favorites are not the RPG but the race and battle-type of games. The PSP is perfect while waiting during tapings or at the airport.

My Panasonic Lumix camera was a gift from an aunt when she came home from Japan. I?ve used it in all kinds of events, especially in MYX. I take pictures of the crowd, the other VJs and the bands. Simply put, it stores memories.

I?m in my third year in Ateneo. I always bring my laptop with me for my assignments. I chat with my professors with this Sony Viao, which was what I won in ?PBB? two years ago. It?s very handy. It has helped me with school work a lot of times already.

I use my iPod for work. As a VJ, I have to know the artists and be updated with their songs.

This is perhaps the most fashionable headphone set I ever received from a fan. It?s from Hong Kong. I bring it all the time.

Book

My favorite book is ?The Alchemist? by Paulo Coelho. I?ve read it three times and still I?m not bored with it. It?s about a young boy looking for his purpose or personal legend. I?m a Coelho fan. I?m just not sure if it?s really him I?m following on Twitter.

Accessories

I?m a big watch guy. I have watches from Sketchers, Swatch, Technomarine and even Lego. Too bad I don?t have a watch endorsement. The Lego watch is a gift from a special friend. If girls have bracelets, earrings and necklaces, guys have watches for accessories. I?ve been collecting watches since I was 4. I keep them all, even those that no longer work.

DVD

?How I Met Your Mother? is what eats up all of my time these days. It?s really funny. It reminds me of the show ?Friends? from before. It has adult humor.

Tops

This may not be the most expensive shirt to most people, but this is priceless to me. This was designed by my dad, Robert, when I was still inside ?PBB.? It says, ?You and me through thick and thin.? At the back, is the Ateneo cheer: ?One big fight,? and the footprints of Jesus. I wore this on ?PBB? all the time. Big Brother or Kuya told me not to wear it anymore -para daw ?di ako naliligo. I didn?t care. I was so proud to wear this shirt.

While other people prefer statement shirts, I like wearing plain ones. I have a few pieces here from Bench. Printed shirts are only for TV.

Scent

Just like watches, I also love perfumes. I always bring perfumes wherever I go, but not because I have BO. The Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani is my mom?s favorite scent on me. It smells fresh. It?s just like you stepped out of the shower. It?s citrus-y.

Eyewear

I like collecting shades. Mormaii, a Brazilian brand, provides most of my eyewear. Buy only what best suits your face. It depends on your budget as well. It doesn?t mean that if it?s costly, it?s good. Make sure it looks good on you.
