CHARICE?S self-titled US debut album has entered Billboard?s Top 200 album chart at No. 8 in its first week of release. The petite Filipina singer is the first Asian artist to achieve the rare feat.
Incidentally, the album is at the top overall spot on the Inquirer music chart, also this week, based on Odyssey?s nationwide sales reports.
What made the record an instant hit are the carefully chosen songs by international songwriters and the fact that it was produced by a collaborative team led by David Foster.
Charice?s vocals sound strikingly mature and at par with the likes of Beyonce and other R&B singers in several instances.
It?s safe to say that other tracks, notably ?Reset? and ?I Did It For You,? are bound to become fan favorites. (See album review on Tuesday.)
The country?s pride performs tonight, 6:30 p.m. at Glorietta 4 Park, Ayala Center, Makati.
