SINCE ARRIVING FROM THE States, I?ve found interesting tidbits of information from the book ?Dos and Don?ts in the Philippines? by Maida Pineda. For example, the concept of ?hiya? and the ?ambiguous yes.? Filipinos have difficulty saying ?no.? This book puts Filipino customs in plainer view and explains their place in local culture. It?s important in my quest to become well-versed in the customs of my new home. Bayani San Diego Jr.
