Lautner to Pattinson: ‘I’m hotter than you’

LOS ANGELES ? ?That?s in the book ? all of that stuff, even the line where Jacob says, ?I am hotter than you,?? Taylor Lautner said with a killer smile when asked about a line that his Jacob Black character delivers while he is shirtless to Robert Pattinson?s Edward Cullen in ?The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.? ?I love that line,? he added.

For someone who wasn?t feeling well, Taylor certainly knew how to conceal it during a recent interview. Wearing a dark suit that complemented his dark, good looks, Taylor showed no trace that he wasn?t feeling well. He was uncannily poised and mature-sounding for his age ? he?s only 18.

The actor relished hearing comments that his werewolf character brings humor to the latest installment of the hit movie series. ?Jacob always gets sort of cocky,? he said with a grin. ?He?s funny at times. The movie can be extremely tense ? but at the same time, it can be pretty humorous. The fact that these two guys are so in love with this girl, and they are ready to kill each other for her, creates that tension.?

On the much-awaited first kiss between him and Kristen Stewart in ?Eclipse,? he explained, ?It was like the climax of the movie. We were on top of a mountain. The background was amazing. It was an important moment ? real emotional. It wasn?t just a kiss. We kiss, and it?s like Bella goes in her mind and sees the future of what she could be if she chose Jacob. When we finish, she has this moment where she just thinks to herself.?

Love triangle

The love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob heats up in ?Eclipse.? ?I definitely do not wish for that situation in real life,? Taylor replied when asked about the triangle. ?It?s painful for all the characters. For Jacob, it?s painful because he always gets this close, then he gets told ?no? over and over again. But, he?s so persistent, and he?s so in love with Bella that he?s going to keep fighting for her until his heart stops beating. If I were that in love, then absolutely,? he said, when queried about whether he would pursue a girl that fervently.

Does he feel any affinity to his werewolf character? ?All of us have a bit of animal inside us that is waiting to be unleashed,? he said with a chuckle. ?Can you feel it? We all have something different. Only around certain people and in a certain time and manner, that side comes out. I?d say that?s probably the closest I have something in common with the wolf.?

On what he looks for in a girl, Taylor, who dated singer Taylor Swift, rattled them off: ?Loyalty and honesty, somebody who can just have fun and be herself. Somebody I can laugh with. Of course, you?d want them to be attractive, but what?s inside is definitely more important than what?s on the outside.?

He sounded refreshingly upbeat about his life that now includes a retinue of photographers: ?It changes a bit, because it?s not normal for anyone to wake up in the morning and have 12 paparazzi cars waiting for you, and who are going to follow you the whole day. The pros that come with the job highly outweigh the cons, so I?m definitely willing to take that negative side, which is very little.?

Virtues

Taylor, who won junior world championships in martial arts as a kid, extolled the virtues of athleticism. ?All the sports I did when I was growing up helped me a lot,? he explained. ?Martial arts taught me discipline. Sports teach you hard work. I believe that nothing comes without hard work. You won?t go to bed and wake up one morning and, all of a sudden, you?ve achieved what you wanted. Sports make me competitive, so I?m thankful I was involved in sports.

He admitted, ?I miss playing football, the games on weekends and traveling the world for martial arts competitions and that whole family. Those were some fun days.?

?It?s stuff that I?m never really interested in,? Taylor replied when queried about his comment on Oprah Winfrey?s show that he neither drinks nor smokes. ?It?s a matter of surrounding yourself with the right people. My parents raised me well.?

Horror flick

Before he shoots the final ?Twilight? movies ? ?Breaking Dawn,? parts 1 and 2 ? and the horror flick, ?The Butcherhouse Chronicles,? with ?Glee?s? Lea Michele, Taylor will report first to the set of ?Abduction.?

?We start filming in July in Pittsburgh,? he disclosed. ?It?ll be directed by John Singleton. It?s about a high school senior who finds a picture of himself on a Missing Persons website. He finds out that his whole life has been a lie. So, in the rest of the movie, he?s on the run while he?s trying to find his true identity, as well as his parents?. It?s an action-thriller with an exciting storyline.?
