TRUE-TO-LIFE stories about World War II veterans have inspired films like Clint Eastwood?s ?Flags of Our Fathers,? ?Letters From Iwo Jima,? as well as John Dahl?s ?The Great Raid.? Unfortunately, relevant movies like these are few and far between.
Our war veterans? stories are brought back to scorching life in ?War of Our Fathers?A Tribute to Filipino Freedom Fighters,? a unique photo exhibit depicting the horrors of war.
It features vintage photographs, artifacts and memorabilia, and aims to share the moving but little-known tales of our war heroes, so that today?s generation can arrive at a better appreciation of their sacrifices.
Philippine Veterans Bank president Ricardo Balbido Jr. says that, through the exhibit, the bank honors our country?s World War II heroes to help inculcate into the minds of young Filipinos the importance of their struggles and triumphs.
Now more than ever, we need the kind of heroism and courage displayed by our forefathers during the war.
