Viewers speak up–and talk back

What do viewers want to say to the stars or shows they love?or not? At a TV-film forum last month, we got an earful, and feel inspired to share these insightful inputs:

For morning and noontime TV show hosts: ?Stop shouting! It hurts our ears and exposes your nervousness and lack of preparation. Also, learn how to read your spiels without looking like you?re reading. Finally, minimize your plugs for exchange deals?they waste our time.?

For President-elect Noynoy Aquino: ?The pressures of the presidency are so intense, so do your best to stop smoking. In the process, you?ll be motivating many others to do the same.?

Related to this, for Sharon Cuneta: ?Please go on a diet again, it?s good for your health. Now that you?re busy on TV and in the movies again, you need to be in good health?always.?

For Chito Roño, director of ?Emir?: ?You should be commended for casting newcomer Frencheska Farr as the lead in your movie. We need new stars to invigorate the show biz scene. Yes, we have many young talents, but many of them lack the ?K? to succeed and hold our attention.?

For Andi Eigenmann: ?You?re doing well on ?Agua Bendita? and play your two roles with good delineation of their different personalities. Your good acting genes are really working, but don?t let success go to your head. Good luck, too, on your first movie.?

Another ?Agua Bendita? regular, Matteo Guidicelli, also gets good marks from a student, who points out that the young actor ?doesn?t just rely on (his) looks to click with the audience.?

Another member of the audience complains about ?too many commercials on TV, which deprive us of continuous viewing. I know that commercials are needed for TV stations to turn a profit, but there are just too many of them, well past the official limit.?

For Kris Aquino: ?Your decision to stop hosting talk shows is commendable, since it will spare your brother, Noynoy, from possible awkward problems involving misperception.?

For ?Pilipinas Got Talent?: ?It?s good that the finalists the show has chosen are really talented and are not just novelty or ?extreme ability? performers, like people who inflict pain on themselves or endanger their lives. May the winners of the competition go on to become real stars, to inspire others to also pursue their dreams.?

For some radio announcers: ?Remember that your voice enters many people?s homes, so talk like a guest, not an intruder. Choose your words well, because children are listening. Some announcers? mouths are filthy, so children and respectable people are shocked.?

Still on the topic of radio announcers, another student said they focused too much on making deep, beautiful sounds, and not enough on the intelligence or basic good sense of what they were saying.

He also rapped some commentators for sounding like ?attack dogs? and acting like ?judges and executioners combined? with little actual evidence to back up their hot and heavy accusations.
