A ‘style that works’

MANILA, Philippines ? Microsoft, considered the leader in Internet and computing technology worldwide, has unveiled hardware products that were designed not only ?to give maximum performance for increased productivity? but to provide ?comfort and quality? and ?style that works? for users as well.

In its press launch Thursday, Microsoft officially named MSI-ECS Philippines its official distributor of the Arc Mouse, the BlueTrack series, the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard, and the High Definition LifeCams.

Simon Tan, senior director for Southeast Asia of Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, said Microsoft?s hardware peripherals were designed not only ?to give maximum performance for increased productivity? but for ?comfort and quality? and ?style that works.?

Launched in 2008, the Arc Mouse boasts of a unique design, providing maximum performance to users. Its elegant, foldable crescent shape allows the Arc Mouse to easily slip into any bag for people on-the-go and users can easily expand to its full size when in use.

The Arc Mouse?s micro transceiver quickly snaps into the bottom of the mouse using a magnet, and is so small ? less than one centimeter while plugged in ? that there is no need to remove it from the laptop while traveling. Also of a similar, crescent-shaped design is the Arc Keyboard, which is also lightweight.

Microsoft also introduced the BlueTrack series for the mouse, specifically developed in response to people?s increasingly mobile lifestyles since it would allow users to bring the mouse almost anywhere.

?The BlueTrack mouse can be used on almost any surface except glass and mirrors,? said Ian Tan of Microsoft.

?The best thing about BlueTrack is that you do not have to pay a high premium for high-end technology. For the same price that you would pay for a competitive laser mouse, you can get a BlueTrack mouse that performs better than laser or optical mice,? Microsoft said in a separate statement.

Meanwhile, the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000 is Microsoft?s lightweight keyboard. Its comfort curve design provides for a more ergonomic typing experience.

Microsoft also boasts of its 720p high-definition webcams. With its compact design, the HD LifeCam series offers the innovative TrueColor technology, which adjusts to every lighting condition.

MSI-ECS Philippines President Jimmy Go said that as official distributor of Microsoft?s hardware peripherals, they were ?committed to taking on the challenge of making [Microsoft?s hardware peripherals] successful.?

Go, however, admitted that it would not be easy because of price concerns. ?But we will capitalize on the Microsoft brand, technology and style,? he said.

?There?s a big market for high-end products here,? Go said, adding that computing these days has become personalized.

Since its inception in 1998, MSI-ECS has become one of the country's leading providers of innovative and reliable computing solutions. Specializing in IT distribution as its core competence, MSI-ECS has continuously redefined and broadened its portfolio of IT products and services to fully address the evolving needs of the local IT community. Today, it offers an extensive array of solutions ranging from systems and peripherals, network and communications, multimedia and presentation, productivity and application software, and CAD and graphics.
