ONE DAY, five boys decided to help build a bridge for their town. While the older men moved rocks and boulders using a wheelbarrow, the boys were tasked to carry rocks from the river to the construction site several meters away.
The rocks were heavy, so the boys struggled to do their task. A group of lazy onlookers teased them, ?Those rocks are heavy! You can?t carry that heavy load all the way! Give up! Just play with us. You are suffering unnecessarily.?
Impact
The weight of the rocks and their colleagues? teasing had a great impact on the boys who, one by one, gave up trying to finish their work?except for one of them, who continued to carry his rock to the construction site.
When the rock became too heavy to carry, he pushed and rolled it. He didn?t give up trying. All the teasing and discouragement didn?t distract or disturb him?because he was born deaf. There was no way for the taunting to enter his ears and pierce his heart.
In this world, nasty things are said about who we are and what we do. If they?re true, let those words change us for the better. But, if they?re merely rumors, ignore them?and get on with your task!
