LOS ANGELES?Krista Ranillo and Niño Jefferson ?Jeff? Lim, who were wed last Sunday in Long Beach, are planning to walk down the aisle again in November next year, this time in the Philippines.
?Yes they are planning a big one in Manila on Nov. 11, 2011 (11-11-11),? confirmed David Tupaz, Krista?s cousin, who is a Hollywood designer.
If that happens, it will be the third time for the actress and the owner of Island Pacific, a supermarket chain in California. They were wed in civil rites last July.
?Simplicity with class describes the wedding,? David told us via e-mail of the ceremony held last Aug. 8 at the Maya Hotel. ?It was just a small gathering of family and friends close to both Jeff and Krista. Nothing elaborate or over the top was expected. Krista?s simple approach to her life again prevailed. It was a celebration of love, that both Jeff and Krista found each other even amid intrigues and controversies ? she with the rumors about you-know-who (boxing champion-congressman Manny Pacquiao). Love found its way thru all that!?
David ? who has designed for such entertainment personalities as Jane Seymour, Julia Roberts, Annette Bening, Goldie Hawn and Patti Austin but specializes in bridal couture ? volunteered that the controversial actress? wedding gown is from ?Krista by David Tupaz,? the two cousins? fashion line collaboration. Added the designer, who raised a toast to the newlyweds at the reception: ?The gown is made of beaded French lace and duchess satin. It?s cut in a haltered neckline held by a French single petal bow in the back. Krista chose the cut and the shape of the gown. The skirt has bias panels that flow into a train at the back.?
As to why it was a Jewish-interfaith wedding, David replied: ?Actually, the pastor/rabbi is a non-denominational minister. Yes, they had a Jewish ceremony but they both believe that all religion is one. They will have a Catholic wedding in the Philippines.?
?The whole Ranillo family knew about the wedding,? David confirmed. ?Almost all of them were present. Gloria Sevilla (Krista?s grandmother) couldn?t make it to the event, but had previously spoken to all of family members present during the reception. This was planned only three weeks ago. That is why only those who could come on short notice made it.?
Love song requests
Krista made her entrance as a quartet from the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra (Faso) played Pachelbel?s ?Canon in D.? Bob Shroder, Faso?s musical director and conductor, played the flute, with Paul Carlo Concepcion (keyboards), Lito Molina (violin) and Matthew John Ignacio (cello).
Bob said, ?We played light classics during the guests? arrival and Broadway and film excerpts after the ceremony, before dinner was served.?
Any song requests from the bride and groom? Bob answered, ?Yes from the groom ? ?Viva La Vida? by Coldplay and ?Runaway? by the Corrs. We played those right after the ceremony before the newlyweds moved on for the picture taking.? A jazz trio? Abe Lagrimas Jr., Miko Español and Yohei Nakamura? also played at the reception. The party continued aboard a yacht that cruised the Long Beach harbor.
The couple?s honeymoon plans? ?Maybe Cancun? definitely in Mexico,? David said.
