MANILA, Philippines?I had a Palestinian student in London (at the East 15 Acting School) and she told me about her life as a refugee. That encounter reintroduced me to the play ?My Name Is Rachel Corrie,? which New Voice Company is mounting (Sept. 3 and 4 at the Music Museum). To prepare, I read several books on this complex issue, including ?Let Me Stand Alone: The Journals of Rachel Corrie.? Beyond the politics, she was a great writer. A peace activist. What I picked up from the book are her sense of humor and deep introspection. She?s inspiring. The book reminded me of the power of the written word. Bayani San Diego Jr.
