Pacquiao, Piolo lead Pasig River run

MANILA, Philippines?World boxing champion Rep. Manny Pacquiao, heartthrob Piolo Pascual and sports broadcaster Dyan Castillejo lead the Kapamilya stars who are joining 140,000 Filipinos in ?10.10.10 A Run for the Pasig River? today.

Pacquiao shows his support for the river clean-up of ABS-CBN Foundations? Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig by hosting the pre-race program at the starting line along Ayala Avenue with Dyan and Piolo. They are running the 10K-race.

?Pilipinas Win na Win? co-host Pokwang and ?Umagang Kay Ganda? anchor Winnie Cordero direct runners at the 3K starting line at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. On the 5K starting point at the CCP Complex, ABS-CBN Foundation managing director Gina Lopez hosts the program.

After the three races, a post-race program will be staged in SM MOA featuring ABS-CBN stars Rhap Salazar, Luis Manzano, Jovit Baldivino, Karylle, Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco and Studio 23 hosts Juddah Paolo, Aaron Atayde and Angel Aquino.

?10.10.10 A Run for the Pasig River? hopes to break the Guinness World Records for the most participants in a footrace set by San Francisco?s ?Bay to Breakers? race in 1988. It also hopes to inspire more Filipinos to take part in saving the Pasig River.

The race and program is telecast live on Studio 23 from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

60-second challenge

Guy Fieri hosts ?Minute To Win It,? a competition series featuring everyday Americans who can win up to a million dollars if they beat 10 simple challenges each within a minute?s time.

Law clerk and Oklahoma native Matt Marr is looking to win big and get a new home for him and his Miniature Schnauzer, Sophie Louise, but the ?Triple Pong Plop? challenge may be more difficult than he anticipated.

Later, Los Angeles fire fighter Cedrick Cleveland begins with the ?Fish Head? challenge where he must put a lampshade on his head with a fishing rod while being blindfolded.

The show airs on SOLARtv on Monday nights at 7, with prime time weekend telecasts on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m.

American dream

HBO presents a brand-new comedy series that follows two enterprising Brooklyn twentysomethings as they hustle their way through New York City, determined to achieve the American Dream.

The eight half-hour episode season of ?How To Make It In America? premieres with two back-to-back episodes tomorrow at 9 p.m. on HBO/HBO HD.

Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk, starring as Ben Epstein and Cam Calderon, respectively, try to make a name for themselves in New York?s competitive fashion scene.

With the help of Cam?s cousin Rene (Luis Guzman) and their well-connected friend Domingo (Scott ?Kid Cudi? Mescudi), the burgeoning entrepreneurs set out to make it big.

It also stars Lake Bell, Martha Plimpton, Shannyn Sossamon and Eddie Kaye Thomas.

TFC destinations

The Filipino Channel recently mounted events in the United States, Australia and Japan, where TFC continues to bring news from the homeland on-air.

Nearly 10,000 people came to California?s Great America, San Franciso?s themed amusement park, to join ?One Kapamilya Go! (OK Go!) 2010? on September 12. Among the performers were Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro.

At the Nisshou Hall in Tokyo on September 20, Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby and Gabby Concepcion provided musical entertainment.

The final leg was the two-night ?TFC Live! Down Under? staged in Sydney and Melbourne on September 24 and September 25 featuring Pinoy stand-up comedians.

GMA Pinoy on P-Noy

GMA Network?s flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV held a one-on-one interview with President Benigno ?Noynoy? Aquino III during his first and recent official visit to the United States.

President Aquino appeared at the Philippine Development Forum Gala, an event held by the Philippine Development Foundation USA (PhilDev USA, formerly Ayala Foundation USA) with GMA Pinoy TV as the exclusive broadcast media sponsor, last September 25 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.

GMA News? Sandra Aguinaldo conducted the exclusive one-on-one interview with President Aquino titled ?P-Noy sa GMA Pinoy TV? where he talked about the success of his US visit and how he expects the trip to impact the Filipino people back home.
