MANILA, Philippines?It?s easy to see where the passion and energy of world-renowned preacher, Fr. John Corapi, is coming from every time he delivers his talks on EWTN?he found the road back to the faith after leading a sinful life in his youth. He gives viewers goose bumps as he talks about sin and its consequences.

Recently, we caught his two-part lecture series, ?Surrender Is Not An Option? and the ?Power of the Holy Eucharist,? in which he took to task his audience for being ignorant of their faith.

In his booming voice, he blamed bad Catholic teaching at universities in America, saying that immoral theology was being taught by those in charge of the Catholic formation of students and seminarians.

Social maladies

The popular preacher attributed many of the world?s troubles to Catholics? just ?going with the flow? in relation to pornography, New Age concepts, the occult, and other social maladies such as substance addiction and alcoholism, which afflict even members of the clergy. Moreover, he said that the world?s woes are due to Catholics? complacency.

Fr. Corapi likened spiritual combat with battles in the field, where one should help a fallen comrade by resorting to SWAT (which he says stands for ?spiritual weapons and tactics??namely, penance, prayer, knowledge of the truth, and reparation).

?Giving in to the enemy isn?t an option? is Fr. Corapi?s battlecry. It?s a fight worth fighting for, but it?s a no-brainer! If I?m captured, I?ll continue to resist!,? he enthused.

?Some of you have not gone to confession in a long time, and others are addicted to porn. But, we?re all soldiers fighting in the army of God, helping others escape the bondage of sin! We can?t call ourselves Catholic and commit these atrocities!?

His lectures always end with a standing ovation. He spices them up with humorous stories related to his personal experiences and conversion. Indeed, we?ve never seen a priest as feisty as Fr. John Corapi!
