TV5 and Viva Entertainment will be co-producing five shows in 2011, an executive of the Kapatid network announced on Thursday.
?Patikim pa lang ?yan.,? said TV5 production and creative services head Perci Intalan. ?There?s more to come for Kapatid viewers. Viewer support is evident on how well we are doing in the ratings these days.?
?Bagets? on TV
Maryo J. delos Reyes? ?Bagets,? the most popular teen movie franchise in the ?80s, will soon become a TV series. The original film starred William Martinez, Herbert Bautista, JC Bonnin, Raymond Lauchengco and Aga Muhlach. ?Expect a lot of humor, tricks and misadventures from our new young heroes,? says Intalan. The TV series will carry the title ?Bagets: New Boys, New Tricks.?
Eddie Garcia?s 1981 film, ?P.S. I Love You,? which starred the then young love team Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion, will also be adapted for the small screen early next year.
Ben Feleo?s ?Humanap ka ng Panget,? based on the Andrew E song of the same title, will also have a TV version in 2011. The comedy film, released in 1991, featured Andrew E, Jimmy Santos and Keempee de Leon.
JC de Vera will play lead in the TV adaptation of ?Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum,? one of the biggest box-office hits of the 1990s. It starred Robin Padilla in the film version. JC will be paired with up-and-coming talent Jasmine Curtis, younger sister of actress Anne Curtis, who is also a Viva talent.
Maning Borlaza?s ?Bukas Luluhod ang mga Tala? will have its TV version, too, according to Viva boss Vic del Rosario.
In an phone interview on Friday, Del Rosario said his company will formally seal the deal with the Kapatid network in the coming week. ?I?ve been discussing this with the bosses of TV5 long before the premiere of ?Willing Willie,?? said Del Rosario, who is also the business manager of game show host Willie Revillame. ?TV5 is bullish in creating new shows.?
Intalan also said the network will be airing the Philippine edition of ?Extreme Makeover Home Edition,? a reality show that provides home renovations, produced by the American Broadcasting Company in the United States.
The TV version of ?Babaeng Hampaslupa? will start production soon, Intalan reported. Maricel Soriano portrayed the lead character in the 1988 movie version. This time, TV5 homegrown talent Alex Gonzaga will assume the role. ?We?ve also received confirmation that (US-based actress) Alice Dixson has agreed to come back and work on the show,? Intalan added.
Alice?s first acting role was on the TV series ?Okay Ka Fairy Ko.?
Also set to do a comeback on the boob tube is the sitcom ?Iskul Bukol,? which TV5 will co-produce with APT Entertainment. ?Everything is set, especially the script. The show will come back in a big way,? Intalan declared. The sitcom, which aired from 1977-88, starred Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon.
The network has also teamed up with director Carlo J. Caparas to produce the TV adaptations of the action flick ?Bangis? and the tearjerker film ?Limang Daliri ng Diyos.?
?Star Confessions?
The show biz-oriented program ?Star Confessions,? with Cristy Fermin as host, will premiere on Dec. 8, Intalan reported. The reality talent search program ?Star Factor? will conclude this weekend.
