UST Varsitarian holds CineVita 2011

ON its fifth year, the UST Cinevita Film Festival will take place on March 15 to 17 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex Auditorium, UST Campus, España, Manila.

Cinevita is the film program of the Varsitarian, official publication of the pontifical university.

Opening film this year is Marilou Diaz-Abaya?s ?Peñafrancia: Ikaw ang Pagibig,? a narrative feature on the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia and how it changes the lives of her devotees. Closing film is ?Dominic: Light of the Church,? an international film on the life of St. Dominic, the founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), shot entirely in Europe and produced by the Philippine Dominican Province with cooperation from the French Film Commission.

Other films to be shown: Gil Portes?s Cinemalaya-winning black comedy, ?Two Funerals?; the award-winning anthology of Milo Tolentino (?Andong,? ?Blogog,? ?Orasyon,? and ?P?); ?Demographic Winter,? the international documentary on the harmful effects of population control and social engineering; winners of the UST Quadricentennial short film contest; ?The 13th day: The Story of Fatima?; and ?The Rite,? the film on true-to-life exorcism starring Anthony Hopkins.
