Actor Wendell Ramos said he received ?the most encouraging words? about his transfer from GMA 7 to TV5 from comedian Michael V, who is rumored to be negotiating with the Kapatid network himself.
?Michael V said things would turn out fine for me eventually,? Wendell told Inquirer Entertainment during his recent press launch as a TV5 talent. ?I just have to be optimistic and love what I?m doing. He also told me that if I needed company he?s just a phone call away.?
Wendell said he was unaware of any negotiation between Michael V and TV5. ?He never mentioned [any such thing], although it?s really not impossible,? he pointed out. ?I think show business would be so much better if artists were allowed to work for all the major networks.?
The actor said he first discussed his plans with Michael V and ?Bubble Gang? co-stars Ogie Alcasid and Antonio Aquitaña. ?They all wished me luck. They said I shouldn?t feel guilty about leaving, that it was just part of work,? Wendell said.
As a Kapuso talent for 15 years, Wendell played lead roles in drama shows like ?Sinasamba Kita,? ?Una Kang Naging Akin? and ?Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit.? He was also a mainstay of ?Bubble Gang,? the country?s longest-running gag show.
He claimed that moving to TV5 was the best decision he has made so far. ?I have nothing against my former network,? Wendell said. ?My bosses there took care of me well. I just like the plans that TV5 has for me. Here, I have more opportunities to grow as an actor.?
Wendell recently signed a two-year contract with the Kapatid network, where he is expected to do two programs per year. The actor is now seen in the drama series ?Ang Babaeng Hampaslupa,? which features Susan Roces, Alice Dixson and Alex Gonzaga.
Wendell joins the cast as Harry Bautista, a hired gunman who will eventually play third wheel to the recurring romance between Anastacia See (Alice) and Charles Wong (Jay Manalo). He is tasked to make Anastacia fall in love with him and kill her afterwards.
Wendell is also part of the sitcom ?Happier Together,? with Joey Marquez and Long Mejia. ?They gave me a warm welcome on the show. I?ve worked with them before. I felt that they?re genuinely happy to see me again.?
Wendell said he became even more sure of his decision to join TV5 when he saw senior vice president and COO Bobby Barreiro during his contract-signing. ?He was still a GMA 7 executive when I signed up for ?Bubble Gang? 15 years ago. I think seeing him again when I inked the deal with TV5 was a good sign.?
