MANILA, Philippines?Ah, La Mer, the name alone is so cool and soothing that it?s no wonder Cosmo Manille?s creamy set has fallen madly in love with this product, dahlings. Moi was surely glad moi made it to the unveiling of the miracle product at the refurbished La Mer counter at Rustan?s Makati.

The luxury brand?s loyal followers and new clientele were all accounted for, palanggas.

?La Mer was created out of the need to heal,? said La Mer Philippines marketing executive Sandra Lacson.

?Dr. Max Huber, an aerospace physicist, suffered a terrible accident when a routine experiment exploded in his face, resulting in severe chemical burns. Dr. Huber decided to help himself, and after 12 years and some 6,000 experiments later, the fab Crème de la Mer was born. This accident (resulted in) a miraculous product that successfully addresses the skincare needs of various women and men across the globe.?

While Sandra was informing us of La Mer?s history, Hunter Douglas blinds were slowly rolled up to unveil the new face-lift of the super-chic La Mer counter.

One thing I know for sure is that loads of La Mer users swear by it and will tell you that foremost of La Mer?s products is the awesome Crème de la Mer, which fulfills its promise of improving skin to the maximum level, making the skin smoother, softer and firmer.

So there must be basis on why this product is tops, n?est ces pas! (as in, di bala!)

The eye-catching La Mer counter is on the ground level of Rustan?s Department Store Makati.

Birthday bash

Still the reigning king of nightlife, Louie Ysmael threw a wow birthday bash for one of his angels, la simpatica and ever bubbly Liza Tan, at that classy hang-out, The Mezzanine at Nuvo, naturellement.

Louie has some help from vivacious Cacay Moras and the lean, mean entertainment machine, Fran Ribano.

Way back before the appointed time of 9:30 p.m., Mezzanine was packed with our town?s party goers, from young professionals to the established namedroppables.

Moi couldn?t miss, tall good-looking Joey Server, who kept focusing his camera at some of Manille?s beautiful faces, dahlings.

The all-gal posse and special pals of the celebrator, which included Rica Villaluz, Bong Aromin, Ann Michelle and Marielle Capistrano, attracted a lot of attention from the single and married tomcats present?including, take note, the heir to the throne of an oil-rich neighboring country. That?s why they?re called eye candy, di bala?

With the fantastic upbeat sound and the ultra-chic ambiance of Nuvo?s Mezzanine, it?s no wonder that the fun, fun party went on till 4 a.m.

Well, palanggas, that?s not surprising at all. Leave it to the adorable Cebuana Liza who knows what a real party is all about, palanggas.

Beer binge

The so-popular Red Box karaoke bar that introduced style and sophistication to Cosmo Manille?s singing society unveiled the latest trends in beer by bringing in the expertise of chef Philip John Golding, no less, a renowned chef and beverage guru trained in Paris and Italy.

Red Box was packed with beer and karaoke aficionados.

?The Filipinos? strong affinity for beer makes it an exciting market to watch out for. From the usual beer brands in the market, the demand for more diverse and classier beer concoctions have increased,? said chef Golding.

Red Box, in fact has tons of the world?s top beers.

The beer series kicked off with a focus on Heineken, the crowning glory of the Netherlands beer industry. After Holland, beers from Belgium were the next attraction, specifically Stella Artois.

Hoegaarden Witbier continued the Belgian showcase. Although moi ain?t a beer drinker I really dug this one, palanggas.

Next was Japan?s Kirin, probably one of the world?s most luxurious Pilsner.

Finally, rounding up the interesting beer tour was the world?s top-selling beer?Budweiser from US, dahlings.

Paolo del Rosario, marketing director of Red Box, said, ?Mixing art, technology and a lot of fun, we want our customers to enjoy a karaoke experience, and to eat, drink, play and lounge in the distinctly global cosmopolitan Red Box way.?

So true. No wonder those who love to sing in the shower and those who grab every chance to exercise their vocal cords, dash over to Red Box for a night of letting their voices hang out, like Tatler?s Anton San Diego, gorgeous Ruffa Gutierrez, lawyer Mike Toledo, Kit Kat Zobel, eye-catching Pops Fernandez, Noel Oñate, head-turner Jessica Guevarra, Dr. Hayden Kho and la bella Vicky Belo, Rico and Tina Maristela Ocampo, Alvin Patrimonio, and Charlie ?Atong? Ong.

Now, how?s that for name-dropping?

And finally, dahlings, did you know that Filipinos consume 1.25 billion liters or 3.9 billion bottles of beer a year. Wow! That really knocked my Mark & Spencer?s athletic socks off, palanggas.
