MANILA, Philippiines--Filipino-American Glenn Donaire is now "about 100 percent" ready for his world title challenge but his opponent, IBF light flyweight champion Ulises Solis is reportedly suffering from severe coughing which would most likely cause the cancellation of their May 17 showdown in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

A report from a Mexican boxing website indicated Friday that Solis was suffering from pneumonia and will have to call off his seventh title defense against Donaire, according to his father Aurelio.

"He arrived at the press conference with a minor gripe, and apparently the airconditioning and cold weather took a toll on him," said the elder Solis, who said he is in Aguascalientes while his son is currently in Guadalajara.

This developed as Nonito Donaire Sr, who trains his son Glenn, told this writer in an interview Friday that his son has been sparring hard against his brother and IBF flyweight king Nonito Jr. Glenn is in tremendous physical shape, according to the elder Donaire.

"We are very confident that we will win this title," said Donaire Sr. "We will leave for Aguascalientes on Monday, and we are in the mood to win the crown."

Donaire Sr. said they are still in the dark as to the real health condition of Solis and there is no word yet from the IBF office.
