‘Piging Sining sa Reposo’

MANILA, Philippines?From May 23 to June 7, splurge to your heart?s content at LRI Design Plaza, 210 Nicanor Garcia st.(formerly Reposo), Bel-Air II, Makati City. It?s time for the annual summer sale at LRI Design Plaza.

Bargain hunters, shopaholics and collectors will enjoy up to 50-percent discount on selected items: Furniture and home furnishings, footwear, fashion accessories, table décor, antiques, restaurants and spa services.

Art party

LRI?s summer sale will be held simultaneously with ?Piging Sining sa Reposo,? Grupo Reposo?s street festival from May 30 to June 1?an art party that has the support of the Makati City government, as part of its 338th Araw ng Makati celebrations.

The festival?s activities include mural painting on PLDT walls, laying of mosaic-designed tiles on Reposo?s sidewalks and walls, body tattoo by Leopoldo Aguilar Jr., and screening of French films at Alliance Francaise at 2 p.m.

The Makiling Ensemble and the UST Jazz Ensemble will perform at 5 p.m., while a lecture on the art of Balagtasan is set at the LRI Pavilion.

Filipino films

Other performances are by Noel Cabangon and the Ecole de Ballet Manille, with choreography by Nina Anonas de Santos. Award-winning independent Filipino films will also be screened, followed by a lecture on local indies by their directors and cinematographers.

The following day, there will be mural painting and laying down of mosaic tiles by a group of artists from Blumentritt, street painting by children from the Virlanie Foundation, and Balagtasan by Teo Antonio, Vim Nadera and Mike Corosa.

Ethnic percussionists from Baguio and the UST Brass Band will perform, and visual artists, Mannet Villariba, Ian Madrigal and Mitch Garcia, will talk during a showing of Video Art 101 at the Alliance Francaise de Manille auditorium at 7 p.m.
